Great Britain and Azerbaijan are committed to regional security and the elimination of global threats, Ednews reports that the Embassy of Great Britain told this.
State Secretary met with Azerbaijani foreign minister within the framework of the 5th strategic dialogue.
"Britain appreciates the dynamics of peace talks for a historic settlement of the long-running conflict with Armenia, at the same time, the Minister for Europe notes the need for progress on human rights, which is necessary for a successful and prosperous Azerbaijan.
State Secretary James Cleverly met with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov at the Ukraine Recovery Conference held in London last day. During the meeting, he noted with satisfaction Azerbaijan's support to Ukraine by providing vital humanitarian aid, including electricity generators, water pumps, and medical supplies, as part of the 5th UK-Azerbaijan Strategic Dialogue.
The Secretary of State welcomed the recent achievements in the negotiation process toward the peaceful settlement of the long-standing conflict with Armenia and called on the Minister of Foreign Affairs Bayramov to maintain the newly achieved dynamics in the ongoing peace talks between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
As part of the dialogue, UK Europe Minister Leo Dockerty received Foreign Minister Bayramov on Tuesday 20 June at the Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office to discuss opportunities for greater cooperation in security, trade, and cultural relations.
Minister Dockerty emphasized the unique position of Great Britain, as the largest foreign investor in Azerbaijan, to support the diversification of Azerbaijan's economy and promote the energy transition process that will allow Azerbaijan to use its renewable energy potential.
The UK's leading role in demining the returned territories was highlighted as a clear example of the UK's support for peace in the region and how the UK's experience supports Azerbaijan.
Acknowledging the destabilizing behavior of Iran and Russia, the minister also reiterated Great Britain's offer of support to Azerbaijan to increase its cyber security and strengthen its resilience against hybrid threats.
Minister Dockerty emphasized that Great Britain is ready to support progress in the field of human rights, which is important for a successful and prosperous Azerbaijan.
The dialogue held during the first visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan to Britain after 10 years was based on the visit of Minister Dockerty to Baku in February. In Baku, he conveyed the Prime Minister's priorities and signed a memorandum of understanding to support the prevention of illegal migrants and drugs entering Europe," reads the information.
