Independence Day of the U.S. was celebrated in Baku, Ednews reports.
US Chargé d'Affaires in Azerbaijan Hugo Guevara addressed at the event.
In his speech, he spoke of the history of the United States' Independence and stated that the United States is a positive force in the world.
The American envoy recalled how, after WWII, the United States played a beneficial role in Europe's reconstruction: "Today, the United States is committed to supporting Ukraine's territorial integrity, independence, and sovereignty."
He also emphasized that "our cooperation with Azerbaijan has expanded and diversified over the last 30 years."
In his speech, Azerbaijani Finance Minister Samir Sharifov stated that the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries was celebrated last year: "These relations have evolved through equal partnership and mutual interests. It has expanded in the fields of energy security and counter-terrorism."
Minister emphasized that the U.S will continue to support sustainable peace in the South Caucasus: "We believe that the United States shares and will support the efforts of the establishment of peace and stability in the South Caucasus region, the reconstruction of the liberated territories and the "Great Return" efforts. The United States and Azerbaijan have built a solid partnership. The partnership is strengthened by common goals and interests. We are confident that our cooperation will continue successfully."
