Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan, Hikmet Hajiyev, gave an interview to "Arab News" about the recent events in the region. According to Ednews, during the conversation, he drew attention to the resolutions of the UN Security Council demanding the withdrawal of Armenian troops from Azerbaijan and expressed regret that they have not yet been implemented.
There were members of the Security Council who were de facto co-chairs of the Minsk Group, but they did not do enough to ensure that the requirements of the UN Security Council resolutions were implemented.
But now I am very sorry that after 30 years the UN Security Council is starting to discuss the problems in our region.
What was the result of the resolutions of the Security Council on August 16?
I think they went beyond certain elements."
Hajiyev also emphasized that the responsibility for solving this problem lies with Armenia and Azerbaijan, and dialogue and direct contact between the two countries is a necessary step towards a solution. He stressed that the solution for Karabakh Armenians living inside Azerbaijan should be found in other places, not in the capital. This statement reminds of the urgency of the problem and the need for active cooperation between the two countries to achieve peace and stability in the region.
"The real solution lies in two countries - Armenia and Azerbaijan. We need to talk to each other to find a solution. Karabakh Armenians live inside Azerbaijan. They have no other way. We should establish direct contact and find solutions to unresolved issues on the spot. This problem will not be solved through the mediation of different countries."
