“Armenia without Turks" was one of the main slogans of the demonstrations held by the domestic opposition in Armenia in April 2022. Evidence and facts related to all these cases were collected by us and submitted to the Court in the form of an extra complaint, Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Elnur Mammadov said in his remarks at the presentation ceremony of the report on "Hate crimes and hate speech against Azerbaijanis", Ednews reports.
He said that none of the people who voiced these slogans and other calls of hatred have been brought to any responsibility to date.
“However, according to Armenia's own criminal law, such calls provide full grounds for opening a criminal case. However it seems that the implementation of these laws has failed when it comes to Azerbaijanis and Turks. I should note that in response to this irrefutable evidence presented by Azerbaijan to the International Court of Justice, the Armenian side tried to cover this hate speech in the guise of "freedom of speech", claiming that it was unable to prevent hate speech on ethnic grounds, but the decision dated December 7, 2021, the International Court of Justice rejected such a ridiculous approach,” the Deputy FM added.
