The Defense Ministry of the Republic of Korea has expressed protest to Russia and China because military aircraft of the two countries entered the air defense identification zone unilaterally established by Seoul on December 14, Ednews informs referring to TASS.
“Today, the director of the [department] for international policy of the Ministry of Defense expressed a strong protest to the military attachés of the Russian Federation and the People’s Republic of China in the Republic of Korea due to the fact that on December 14, military aircraft of the Russian Federation and the People’s Republic of China entered the air defense identification zone,” reads the statement.
The South Korean department expressed regret that the planes entered the area without prior warning, since the flight was carried out in “sensitive areas” located near the country’s airspace. Seoul called for measures to be taken to prevent a repetition of the situation, as this could become “the cause of tension in the region.”
