"In the biography of the Azerbaijani people, there are many dark days when our people were subjected to mass slaughter. Its history goes back 150 years."
Umud Mirzayev, president of the International Eurasia Press Fund, said these words in his statement to Ednews about the genocide carried out by Armenians together with the Bolsheviks against Azerbaijanis.
"One of these tragic days is described in the work "1905" by prominent writer, playwright, prose writer and public figure Jafar Jabbarli. In that work, there is a famous expression "Your father is the Cossacks". The events are taking place in the village of Tugh. I know that village pretty well. "It is one of our oldest villages, close to the Azykh cave."
U. Mirzayev also recalled the genocide committed by Armenians in Umudlu village of Aghdara region:
"Umudlu tragedy was the first genocide of the century. During the next land claims of Armenians against Azerbaijan, several villages of Karabakh were completely destroyed, 350 villagers were brutally murdered. 160 of them gathered the residents indoors and set fire to them. I believe that we should often talk about the tragedy of Umudlu."
He noted that each of the genocides committed against our people is a stain on the name of humanity and a human tragedy.
"During the events of March-April 1918, the lives of 12,000 people were killed by the Baku Soviet and Dashnak Armenian militants in Baku and in various regions of Baku governorate, in Shamakhi, Guba, Khachmaz, Lankaran, Zangezur, Karabakh, Nakhchivan and other areas. In Baku itself, the Chambarekand cemetery was completely transformed into a cemetery of March martyrs. "Unfortunately, with the support of the Cossacks who committed these massacres, during the Soviet era, Chambarekand became a big park."
U. Mirzayev emphasized that the tragedy of Khojaly happened to us as a result of this great policy implemented for years.
"30 years ago, we experienced the tragedies of Karadaghly, Ballıgaya and Jamylly. We are thankful that we have liberated our lands today. The souls of our martyrs find some peace now. We are already citizens of an independent and reliable state with a strong army."
As Mr. Mirzayev concluded his statement, he urged continued vigilance in remembering the victims of past genocides and reaffirmed Azerbaijan's commitment to honoring their legacy while striving for a peaceful future on the global stage.
