Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed his gratitude to the United States Senate for passing the foreign aid bill that includes $61 billion of aid for Ukraine, Ednews reports.
"I thank Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and Republican Leader Mitch McConnell for their strong leadership in advancing this bipartisan legislation, as well as all US Senators on both sides of the aisle who voted in favor of it," Zelensky wrote on X, formerly Twitter. He added that the vote cements the role the US plays "as a beacon of democracy and the leader of the free world." He went on to thank all Americans who can see the bill as something more than a political move, due to its "historical significance."
"I equally appreciate President Biden's support and look forward to the bill being signed soon," he wrote, emphasizing the necessity of Ukraine's military capabilities in "restoring just peace sooner."
