President Ilham Aliyev announced the active engagement and strengthened cooperation with members of the African Union during his speech at the second Shusha Global Media Forum themed “Unmasking False Narratives: Confronting Disinformation", Ednews informs.
"We have active contacts with many members of the African Union," President Aliyev stated. He emphasized the establishment of an embassy in Ethiopia as a strategic move to foster collaboration with African nations. "We have tried to strengthen cooperation with the member countries of the African Union, and we have established our embassy in Ethiopia so that we can create a basis for cooperation on that continent," he said.
President Aliyev also highlighted the role of Azerbaijan’s chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement in enhancing these contacts, resulting in increased visits from African officials to Azerbaijan. "Of course, our chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement helped us establish practical contacts with countries on the African continent. Today, officials from there are already visiting Azerbaijan," he noted.
