The final session of the intergovernmental open-ended "Ad Hoc" Committee on the preparation of a comprehensive International Convention on the fight against the use of information and communication technologies (ICT) for criminal purposes, established by the resolution of the UN General Assembly on December 27, 2019, July 29 - August 9, 2024- was held at the UN Headquarters in New York, Ednews reports citing the official website of the UN.

At the last meeting of the session, the final draft of the UN "Convention against Cybercrime" was adopted as a result of the long-term hard work of the delegations of the member states of the UN, including the employees of the relevant state institutions of our republic.

The Convention covers a wide range of applications, such as strengthening international cooperation for the fight against crimes committed through information and communication technology systems and the exchange of electronic evidence on serious crimes.

In the final session, Azerbaijan was represented by Hasan Mansurov from the State Security Service, Orkhan Abdulkarimli, and Emin Gamarli from the State Service for Special Communication and Information Security.

During the past period, the delegation of Azerbaijan made relevant proposals on the issues considered to be fundamental regarding the criminalization of criminal acts committed through information and communication technologies, international legal and technical assistance obligations, international cooperation on the protection, collection and presentation of electronic evidence, and submitted by the Committee the Azerbaijani side. all proposals were accepted and reflected in the text of the final draft of the Convention.

In the last session, the delegation of Azerbaijan expressed confidence that the Convention will protect public and individual interests in the new era of rapid digitization, and will demonstrate the high value and effectiveness of collective efforts, and it was emphasized that there are serious expectations that it will not serve disinformation, inequality and neo-colonialism in the world.
