Billionaire Elon Musk, who owns the social media platform X, earlier known as Twitter, accused the company's rival Facebook of "manipulating the public."
"Facebook is manipulating the public almost everywhere on Earth. That is why they won't open source their algorithm," Musk tweeted in response to a user who shared an article by Sky News Australia which alleged that Facebook-owner Meta signed secret commercial contracts with two Australian universities that allowed them to block political debate and news coverage by journalists in the country.
Musk and Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg have been feuding recently amid Meta's launch of a Twitter-like product called Threads, which led to Musk challenging Zuckerberg to a cage fight in late June. The Facebook founder initially accepted the match but said earlier this month it is "time to move on" as Musk "isn't serious" about it.
