UN Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan, Ghulam Isaczai attended in an event dedicated to World Refugee Day in International Mugham Center, Baku, Azerbaijan.. He stressed the problems of refugee and alarmed about the rise of the number of refugees and IDPs in the world.
"We are here to demonstrate our solidarity with people who left their country because of war and violent persecution. During the last 20 years, the number of Refugees and IDPs grew twice and reached 70 million and every second refugee was a child and many of them were alone in 2012 statistics"
Mr Isaczai emphasised one of the important element of 2030 agenda tells "None will be let behind attention". The agenda covers the needs of those with disabilities, HIV; refugees and IDPs, migrants.
New Refugee declaration was made by high-level consensus. It is important for establishing political willingness and determining goals, responsibilities and activation of mechanism directed to help target people.
UN High Commissariat in Azerbaijan works with state bodies for help providing rights of IDPs, refugees.
He also thanked to Azerbaijan for hospitality to refugees and IDPs. Ghulam Isaczai also praised the efforts and experience of Azerbaijan on the relevant issue.
"IDPs has access to basic needs like education and primary healthcare in Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan's effort will promote positive image of Azerbaijan"
"UN is ready to provide any assistance to the government of Azerbaijan," UN official concluded.
