The signing ceremony of a long-term cooperation agreement between Al Jazeera Media Network and the IEPF was held at the International Eurasia Press Fund's (IEPF) head office.
The IEPF president Umud Mirzayev made an opening speech at the event, Ednews reports.
"Al Jazeera has been cooperating with the International Eurasia Press Fund for almost 10 years. The IEPF has become an influential figure for Al Jazeera not only in Azerbaijan but also in the region. We have been discussing to formalise this cooperation with Al Jazeera for the past years. Today we will sign the agreement with Sami Al Hajj. He is the head of the department of Public Liberties and Human Rights at Al Jazeera Media Network. "
He noted that the event was also attended by Hassan Taha Elmogummer, Head of the Partnership and Cooperation Department of Al Jazeera, and that this was his first visit to Azerbaijan.
"We have participated in numerous events and campaigns with Al Jazeera for 10 years. It has shown an objective approach to both the First and Second Karabakh Wars, as stated in its slogan. During the 44-day war, Al Jazeera has broadcast objective information in both Arabic and English. Today, the vast majority of Al Jazeera's team is in Ukraine."
The IEPF President noted that last year Al Jazeera held two training courses for journalists in Azerbaijan with the support of ADA University and the Media Agency.
At the end of the event a short video prepared and broadcast by Al Jazeera about the journalists killed in the conflict zones in 2016, was presented to the participants.
