Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with UN Deputy Secretary General, High Representative for Less Developed and Landlocked Countries Rabab Fatima during his business trip to Qatar.
Ednews was informed about this by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan.
J. Bayramov gave detailed information about Azerbaijan's close cooperation with the UN and its institutions and about our country's participation in humanitarian projects, aid to the least developed countries, aid programs for about 130 countries. Opportunities to benefit from Azerbaijan's scholarship and training programs were brought to attention.
Noting that Azerbaijan has achieved significant progress in the implementation of the "Sustainable Development Goals", the minister informed that currently, successive measures are being implemented in our country in the direction of the implementation of the sustainable development agenda defined by the UN, the development of a diversified, technology- and science-intensive economy.
Jeyhun Bayramov informed about the large-scale restoration and construction works carried out by Azerbaijan in the territories freed from occupation, including the efforts made by our country in the direction of advancing the peace agenda, and also informed the other side about the provocations of Armenia.
Rabab Fatima, Deputy Secretary General of the UN, High Representative for Less Developed and Landlocked Countries, spoke about the work done by the organization led by her in order to solve the problems faced by those countries. Rabab Fatima expressed her belief that the large-scale projects implemented with the initiative and support of Azerbaijan will increase the transport capabilities of the countries of the region that do not have access to the sea, and will make a substantial contribution to the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. It was stated that Azerbaijan's aid programs are important.
The meeting also discussed other issues of mutual interest.
