Training workshop on “Conflict Sensitive Reporting” within the Project “Promoting Media Professionalism and Freedom of Information in Azerbaijan - PRO-M-FEX” has been completed.
Ednews reports that on October 9-11, 2023 training workshop on “Conflict Sensitive Reporting” was held in Shabran. Journalists of various media organizations operating in Azerbaijan participated in the training.
One of the trainers was Seymur Kazimov, a journalist specializing in conflict studies, experienced in cross-border monitoring and reporting and another was Peter Andrew du Toit, a Conflictologist from South Africa, a researcher at Rhodes University School of Journalism and Media Studies.
Within the framework of the program, journalists were informed about understanding conflict, causes, and dynamics of conflict escalation, recognizing how groups are approaching conflict, why this is important for journalists, what roles journalists can play in contributing to conflict management and resolution, some conceptual tools to use in our reporting, values, and perspectives in conflict-sensitive reporting, etc.
At the end, certificates were presented to the participants.
