Police dismantled a pro-Palestinian encampment at Berlin’s Free University on Tuesday after a call from the university's leadership. According to German media, some 100 protesters occupied a courtyard at the university earlier in the day, setting up around 20 tents. The police used pepper spray and carried some demonstrators away from campus.
Free University President Gunter Ziegler told Die Zeit that the protest was "not aimed at dialogue" and that "occupation is not acceptable" on the school's grounds. He added that the protesters damaged university property while trying to break into the premises to occupy them.
