Osman El-Hajje, professor of international law, representative of the International Eurasia Press Fund at the UN Geneva office, former member of the Sub-Commission on Human Rights, passed away on September 15.
Ednews informs that the President of the International Eurasia Press Fund, Umud Mirzayev, expressed his condolences to the relatives of Professor Osman El-Hajje.
He stated that, IEPF has lost a valuable person, an intellectual with whom he cooperated for many years:
"I offer my deepest condolences to his family and those who loved him. May God have mercy on him."
It should be noted that Osman El-Hajje received a doctorate in International Law from the University of Geneva and received higher education in international relations in Geneva. He previously worked as a professor at Jinan University in Tripoli, Lebanon, and was the president of the University's Center for Human Rights. In addition, from 1994 to 1997, Professor El-Hajje worked as a rapporteur for the UN Sub-Commission on Anti-Discrimination and Protection of Minorities. From 2009 to 2015, he worked as a deputy of the Working Group on the rights of internally displaced persons of the Human Rights Council.
It should be noted that in 2020, the International Eurasia Press Fund (IEPF) officially designated Osman El-Hajje as the representative of the UN in Geneva, Switzerland.
