Tishchenko, 25, scored 3-0 in the final bout against Vasily Levit of Kazakhstan in 91 kg division. The judges’ decision was followed by boos from a certain part of fans.
"I’m very sad about this reaction of fans, I’m sad about the fact that I got boos but if the contest was scored in my favor it means I deserved it," Tishchenko said, adding that Levit was his most formidable opponent at the Olympics.
Meanwhile director of the Russian Boxing Federation (RBF) Evgeny Sudakov said it is not nice to boo boxers who gained Olympic medals as was the case with Evgeny Tishchenko.
"It is not necessary to respond to boos but I think it is not nice when boxers get boos," he said, adding that "if judges take this decision it means they are right."
The 2016 Olympic Summer Games will end on August 21.
