Axel Witsel is confirmed to remain at Atletico Madrid for another year. The 'Colchonero' club announced his renewal until 2025, Ednews informs, referring to BeSoccer.

The midfielder, who arrived from Borussia Dortmund, has become a key player for Diego Pablo Simeone, which is why the club has offered him one more year of contract.

What was an open secret has been confirmed: midfielder Axel Witsel has earned his continuity at the Metropolitano. The Belgian, whose contract with the Madrid side was due to expire on 30th June, has extended his contract until 30th June 2025.

"The Belgian international, who has made 94 official appearances as a 'Rojiblanco', will continue to defend our colors for another season," Atletico announced on their website.

Witsel has become a key player of Simeone's team. In fact, as detailed by the club, he is the player with the most minutes played in the 2023-24 season, with 4.119. Only Oblak surpasses him.

The player is delighted at Atletico Madrid and has left a message to the fans: "I am very happy to stay one more year at this great club. Atleticos, see you soon.
