The leadership of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly (PA) has supported the challenge by United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres for a ceasefire, APA reports citing the OSCE PA website, EDNews reports citing APA.
The leadership of the OSCE PA has expressed concern over the escalation of a number of conflicts in the OSCE area, even in the eve of the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.
"At a time when the world is struggling with the COVID-19 pandemic, conflicts are the last thing we want, because conflicts make the efforts in this fight even more difficult. There are a number of conflicts in the OSCE area, including the conflicts in the South Caucasus and eastern Ukraine. I urge all parties to heed the UN's call for a ceasefire so that we can focus on the overall fight against COVID-19 today," - said OSCE PA President Giorgi Tsereteli.
Mr. Tsereteli also stressed that the recent "elections" in Nagorno-Karabakh and Abkhazia, which are not recognized at the international level, are illegal.
