Russia is ready to dispute the non-market status of its economy, as recognized by the US, in the WTO, Deputy Minister of Economic Development Vladimir Ilyichev told reporters on the sidelines of the APEC Summit, TASS reports.
"We have been discussing the topic of market status with the US for a long time; they made the decision. It will hardly be possible in the current environment to dispute it in a US court. Accordingly, this can be disputed directly in the WTO. We can start the contestation process," the official said.
The point is that the dispute over market status and revocations can be initiated only if this methodology is used in practice, Ilyichev noted.
"They made the general decision. When they make a decision within the framework of the [antidumping] probe based on such methodology, then it will be much simpler to dispute in the WTO. To overturn the theoretical decision itself is extremely difficult," he added.
