Taiwan's President Tsai Ing-wen underlined on Saturday during a speech in the presidential office that "war is not an option" for the island.
EDnews informs that Tsai stated that even though Taiwan is "surrounded by risks, it is by no means a risk maker." She went on to say that the island will continue to responsibly defuse and manage these risks. "War is not an option. Neither side can unilaterally change the status quo with non-peaceful means. Maintaining the status quo of peace and stability is the consensus for both the world and Taiwan," she said.
Meanwhile, Tsai also mentioned that Taiwan is currently negotiating with the United States on the matter of delivering weapons worth $500 million. "The assistance of the American side is due to the epidemic and some other reasons. The delivery of some weapons is somewhat delayed," she mentioned.
