The first woman to serve as NATO Spokesperson, Oana Lungescu, is leaving at the end of August, after directing alliance communications during the most turbulent period in a generation, she wrote on her Twitter page, Ednews reports.
Appointed in 2010 by the former Secretary-General Anders Fogh Rasmussen following a long career at the BBC, and reappointed by Jens Stoltenberg in 2014, Lungescu is also the longest-serving NATO Spokesperson and the first journalist in the job in recent history. She will begin handing over to her deputy, Dylan White, after NATO's Vilnius summit in mid-July.
