The Russian Foreign Ministry revealed on Friday that it summoned Australia's Ambassador to Russia Graeme Meehan (pictured center) over Canberra's decision to prevent Russia from building a new embassy in Australia. Earlier in the day, the Australian government terminated Russia's lease for land near the Parliament House in Canberra, Ednews informs via Teletrader.
The Russian Foreign Ministry said it strongly protests the "openly politicized and unfriendly" move "aimed at causing additional damage to bilateral relations."
Moscow blamed Canberra for their bilateral ties deteriorating to "their lowest point in history," threatening "possible retaliatory measures" to protect its interests.
