NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said on Monday that the alliance is monitoring the situation in Belarus and condemns Russia's announcements about deploying nuclear weapons in the country. However, he said there are still no indications that Russia is preparing to use nuclear weapons.
Stoltenberg commented on the revolt by Wagner Group leader Yevgeny Prigozhin in Russia over the weekend, saying that it is an internal Russian matter but that it is "yet another demonstration of the big strategic mistake" that Russian President Vladimir Putin made by starting the war in Ukraine.
