German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock said during a visit to South Africa on Tuesday that Berlin supports the African Union's bid to join G20.
Speaking alongside South African President Cyril Ramaphosa in Pretoria, Baerbock also noted Germany believes Africa should have a permanent seat at the United Nations Security Council.
US President Joe Biden called for the African Union to become a permanent member of G20 last year, stressing "Africa belongs to the table in every room where global challenges are being discussed," while India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated he has written to other G20 leaders suggesting the African Union becomes a full member of the group at its upcoming summit in India.
