NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said on Tuesday that it was premature to discuss the implications of the decision made by the Wagner Group's leader Yevgeny Prigozhin to move to Belarus.
"It's too early to make any final judgment about the consequences of the fact that Prigozhin has moved to Belarus, and that most likely some of his forces will also be located in Belarus... But we have sent a clear message to Moscow and Minsk that NATO is there to protect every ally, every inch of NATO territory," Stoltenberg told reporters following a NATO meeting in The Hague.
The statement came after Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko confirmed earlier today that Prigozhin arrived in Belarus, with security guarantees provided as promised by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
