United States President Joe Biden welcomed on Tuesday the decision to extend NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg's term.
"Secretary General Stoltenberg has brought our Alliance through the most significant challenges in European security since World War II," Biden said in a statement. "Today, our Alliance is stronger, more united and purposeful than it has ever been. I look forward to continuing the work with Secretary General Stoltenberg to further strengthen the Alliance next week at the NATO Summit in Vilnius," he added.
Earlier, NATO announced that Stoltenberg will stay on as the alliance's head until October 1, 2024 and noted the decision will be "endorsed by NATO Heads of State and Government at the Vilnius Summit."
