British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak clarified on Tuesday that the United Kingdom opposes the expansion of Israeli settlements and called on the Israeli government to "reverse" its course.
Ednews informs via Euronews that speaking before the Liaison Committee, the prime minister underscored that his country, however, supports Israel's right to "self-defense," with the tensions in the West Bank continuing to grow.
In June, the Israeli government approved plans to build over 5,000 new settlement homes in the occupied West Bank. Palestinian official Wasel Abu Yousef stressed that such a step represents "open war against the Palestinian people." Meanwhile, Israeli Defense Forces launched a large-scale anti-terrorist operation in Jenin.
