Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese's office announced in a written statement that the head of government will put trade and security at the center of his upcoming meeting with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz on July 10.
According to the statement, Australia will seek to strengthen its cooperation with Germany in "trade and investment, the clean energy transition, and defense."
Albanese will then travel to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization's (NATO) summit in Vilnius on July 11 and 12. Although Australia is not the alliance's member, it often attends the summits as an observer. The statement underscored that the prime minister will use the opportunity to pursue "our region's strategic priorities and advance Australia's security, economic and trade agenda."
