The British Medical Association (BMA) said that senior doctors will strike on August 24 and 25 after they rejected the government's proposal to raise wages by 6%.
BMA Consultants Committee Chair Vishal Sharma described the government's offer as "a savage real terms pay cut on consultants" due to high inflation and noted doctors were left with "no choice."
On Thursday, United Kingdom Prime Minister Rishi Sunak announced pay rises in the public sector, stressing the raises of around 6% will be the government's final offer and added: "No amount of strikes will change our decision."
