Six people were detained outside the Knesset (Israel's parliament) in Jerusalem during the dispersal of an unauthorized protest against judicial reform, Ednews informs via TASS.
Large-scale protests against judicial reform resumed again in various regions of Israel last week.
The protesters have been vocal in their opposition to the government's policies under Benjamin Netanyahu and his proposed judicial reform plan, which would limit the powers of the Supreme Court and place control over the selection of judges in the hands of the executive branch.
This plan, put forward by the Cabinet at the beginning of the year, immediately provoked fierce protests from the opposition, according to which such a reform would undermine the foundations of democracy.
