Apple could partner with ESPN to bring sports content directly to consumers, a report from iMor said Monday.
According to the report, Apple is one of the tech giants seen as a potential match for ESPN, in a move that could accelerate the iPhone maker's push into sports content for its Apple TV app. The move would mean Apple's unimpeded access to contracts enabling it to stream live sports without having to strike deals with the relevant rights holders.
The news comes days after another report by CNBC said ESPN chief Jimmy Pitaro is in preliminary talks with several investors, including the National Football League and the National Basketball Association, amid Disney's efforts to accelerate its growth.
