Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean Supreme Leader Kim Jong-un are planning to meet in Russia, the New York Times reported on Monday citing American and allied officials with knowledge on the matter.
According to the officials, Kim is expected to travel by an armored train to Vladivostok. The two sides will be discussing armaments. The officials added that while Putin is expected to ask North Korea's head for artillery shells and antitank missiles, the latter will be asking Russia's president to supply Pyongyang with advanced technology for satellites and nuclear-powered submarines.
The officials explained that the two leaders are expected to be in Vladivostok sometime between September 10 and September 13, when the Eastern Economic Forum is being held. Previously, Russia's Defense Minister Sergey Shoygu told reporters that Moscow is considering carrying out joint military exercises with Pyongyang.
