The Georgian Ministry of Defense has issued a refutation of the information disseminated by the opposition TV channel that the US proposed that Tbilisi begin negotiations on the deployment of a US military base in the country, Ednews informs referring to Interfax quoting a statement issued by the Georgian Ministry of Defense.
It said the information is being used by ‘certain media outlets and politically motivated individuals to carry out a campaign of disinformation.’
The day before, the opposition TV channel Mtavari Arkhi reported that earlier during his visit to Georgia, US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin proposed to the ruling Georgian Dream party to negotiate on the issue of locating a military base. According to the TV channel, Austin received a refusal from the Georgian authorities, but this fact was hidden by the Georgian authorities.
