European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs Josep Borrell proposed on Monday a new bilateral aid of €5 billion for Ukraine. In addition to this amount, the European bloc will provide assistance to the country in the coming years.
"I hope we can reach an agreement before the end of the year," Borrell said at a joint press conference with Ukrainian Foreign Affairs Minister Dmytro Kuleba during the EU-Ukraine Foreign Ministers' meeting.
He also stated that the EU continues to train the Ukrainian military, stressing that the goal is to have 40,000 soldiers completing their training in the future months and that both parties intend to reinforce cooperation between their defense industries.
