The Russian Foreign Ministry confirmed that before the anti-terrorist measures in Azerbaijan's Garabagh, a meeting was held in Istanbul among officials from Moscow, Brussels, and Washington, spokesperson for Russian MFA Maria Zakharova told a briefing, Ednews reports.
While commenting on the information of Politico "Russia, the EU and the USA held a secret meeting before the tension in Garabagh", she pointed out that this was not a secret. Zakharova noted that Western countries took this initiative and asked for a meeting.
Note that, according to Politico, on September 17, two days before the local anti-terrorist measures in Garabagh, a meeting of high-ranking officials, namely Louis Bono, Toivo Klaar, and Igor Khovayev, took place in Istanbul.
According to the publication's allegations, the parties wanted to put pressure on Baku to ensure that the convoy of trucks carrying humanitarian aid from Armenia was allowed to go to Garabagh.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov also commented on the aforementioned article in Politico. According to him, the publication features a number of inaccuracies and errors regarding the meeting of the USA, EU, and Russia regarding Garabagh.
"There were contacts, but not as they write," the Kremlin official added.
