Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak discussed humanitarian aid for the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, the presidential office said in the statement on Thursday.
The two stressed the significance of addressing the "root causes" of the crisis and working towards identifying the appropriate, comprehensive, and enduring resolution to the Palestinian problem. Previously, White House National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby revealed that Washington is "actively discussing" with Israel and Egypt to establish humanitarian corridor through Egypt to evacuate citizens.
Meanwhile, the Egyptian government reportedly decided to close the border crossing between the country and Gaza earlier this week "indefinitely" due to the rising tensions in the Palestinian enclave.
