The United States Capitol Police said on Wednesday that they made several arrests during a pro-Palestine rally on Capitol Hill.
"We warned the protestors to stop demonstrating and when they did not comply we began arresting them," the police said in a post on X. "Arrests in the Canon Rotunda and the rolling road closures are ongoing. Amongst these arrests, three people have been arrested and charged with Assault on a Police Officer during processing," they added. The law enforcement added that protests are not allowed inside Congressional buildings and that those who entered them will be charged with illegally protesting inside the building.
Earlier in the day, thousands gathered for a protest against Israel's ground invasion of Gaza organized by the Jewish Voice for Peace and IfNotNo advocacy groups.
