Lebanese Foreign Minister Abdallah Bou Habib told CNN on Friday that his country is calling on Israel to declare a two-day ceasefire, which would allow for a clearer understanding of the party responsible for initiating hostilities.
"Really, we don't want war. The government does not want war. We are dialoguing with the various groups...They [Hezbollah] do not want a war. But I mean, you can't control it. It all depends, again, on what happens in Gaza," the foreign minister said.
Over the past two weeks, tensions between the Israeli Defense Forces and Hezbollah have escalated amid the cross-border attacks between Israel and Hamas. Unnamed United States officials informed Axios previously that Washington would contemplate a "military response" if Hezbollah decided to intervene in the Gaza crisis.
