Moscow continues to exert pressure on the Republic of Moldova, the secretary general of NATO Jens Stoltenberg said during joint press statement with Prime Minister of Moldova Dorin Recean at NATO Headquarters, Ednews reports.
The Secretary General said that Moscow does such things including through energy disconnections anddisinformation, with the aim of destabilizing society and undermining democracy.
But the Republic of Moldova responded by condemning the war launched by the Putin regime against Ukraine and strengthening its resilience and security: "NATO fully supports the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova and asks Russia to withdraw its troops from your territory. You (Moldova - ed.) can count on our continuous support."
Stoltenberg also mentioned about earlier this year, NATO approving a substantial support package for strengthening cyber security and strategic communication to enhance Moldova's defense capability: "At the NATO Summit in Vilnius we agreed to strengthen our political and practical cooperation. All of this will help you get on the path to EU membership. We also thank the Republic of Moldova for its contribution to the KFOR peacekeeping mission in Kosovo."
