A Chinese fighter came within 10 feet of a US Air Force B-52 bomber on a nighttime intercept over the South China Sea last October 24, the US Indo-Pacific Command said in a statement on Thursday.
According to the US military release, the maneuver by the Chinese aircraft was "unsafe and unprofessional," adding that the PRC intercept was performed "at night, with limited visibility, in a manner contrary to international air safety rules and norms."
"The US Indo-Pacific Command Joint Force remains dedicated to a free and open Indo-Pacific region, and we expect all countries in the Indo-Pacific to operate in international airspace safely and in accordance with international law," the Pentagon concluded.
