Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev declared October 29 a day of mourning for the victims of the mine accident in Karaganda, Ednews reports citing Teller Report.
This was reported by the press service of Tokayev.
"Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with the families and relatives of the miners who died as a result of the tragedy and expressed his condolences. The head of state noted that October 29 will be declared a day of national mourning," the statement said.
At the same time, the President of Kazakhstan stressed that all the circumstances of the accident will be clarified and the necessary assistance will be provided to rescue the miners and the families of the injured and deceased.
Earlier it was reported that more than 20 people remain underground after an accident at a mine in Kazakhstan. According to the latest data, 21 miners died as a result of the emergency.
The Prosecutor General's Office of Kazakhstan has opened a criminal case in connection with the accident at the mine in Karaganda.
