Türkiye is ready to host Russia-Ukraine peace negotiations if Moscow and Kyiv show appropriate political will, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said during negotiations with his Belarus counterpart Sergei Aleynik in Ankara, Ednews informs via Belarusian media.
“Türkiye is ready to host negotiations if the parties have the will. The war in Ukraine must end on the basis of international law,” Fidan said.
Besides the Ukrainian conflict, the ministers also discussed international and regional issues, as well as the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip.
The Belarusian Foreign Ministry reported that a meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on economic cooperation will be held in Türkiye. The parties will focus on the current agenda related to trade, economics and investment. Among the main topics are industrial cooperation, cooperation in the agro-industrial complex, as well as the restoration of areas of Türkiye affected by the devastating earthquake of February 2023.
