Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi stressed that Taiwan has never been and will never become "a country", Ednews reports via Yonhap.
The foreign minister underscored during the press conference in Cairo that, irrespective of the outcomes of the island's elections, Beijing's stance remains that "there is only one China," and firmly asserted that "Taiwan is an integral part of China." Wang also warned about repercussions for anyone attempting to challenge the one-China principle and split the Chinese territory.
"Taiwan independence" seriously threatens the wellbeing of its people and undermines peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait, the Chinese foreign minister pointed out.
