The Pakistani Foreign Ministry announced the country's decision on Wednesday to suspend all high-level visits between Islamabad and Tehran officials following last night's "unprovoked" airstrike which is said to have killed two children and left at least three more injured.
Pakistan also decided to recall its ambassador from Iran, and asked the Iranian envoy to Pakistan, who is currently visiting Iran, not to return "for the time being."
"This illegal act is completely unacceptable and has no justification whatsoever. Pakistan reserves the right to respond to this illegal act. The responsibility for the consequences will lie squarely with Iran," the foreign ministry said in the statement.
