French President Emmanuel Macron warned Wednesday on Davos Forum that it is not good for Europe to "be totally dependent on the [United States] on some part of the value chain", Ednews reports.
During his intervention at Davos, Macron noted that protecting the continent's sovereignty "doesn't mean killing" ties, alliances, and partnerships with other economy blocks, but not to be "over-dependent on critical sectors."
Macron mentioned chips, agriculture, energy, and defense industries as the ones that need "critical" attention "to avoid the cost of a big crisis and the fragmentation" of the system amid a possible escalation of tensions between the US and China.
