Belarusian Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin unveiled on Friday the country's new military doctrine, which identifies "sources of military threats" and the government's response, including the use of tactical nuclear weapons. The doctrine recognizes the difference between "coalition" conflicts, where Belarus would act in coordination with allies, and "interstate" conflicts, in which it would "independently defend its vital national interests."
Khrenin said the conflict between the East and the West has entered a "hot phase." However, he also indicated Belarus is open to talks with Western states. "We are ready to resume a pragmatic dialogue, including with NATO states, provided they stop their aggressive rhetoric and actions against us," he said, according to the Belta state news agency.
