The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is summoning the Russian ambassador to France on Monday to condemn the recent Russian strikes in Ukraine and "disinformation targeting France", Ednews reports the following citing Le Figaro.
The Russian ambassador to France "will be summoned" to the French Foreign Ministry on Monday to reiterate his condemnation of the Russian strikes that killed two French aid workers in Ukraine last week, a diplomatic source told French media. Paris will also "denounce the resurgence of disinformation targeting France", the same source added, a few days after the French Ministry of Defence identified a "coordinated Russian manoeuvre" to spread false information implicating France. Tensions between France and Russia have escalated recently over Ukraine, with Moscow criticising France's "militaristic frenzy" following announcements of new arms deliveries to Kiev.
The two French victims were killed on Thursday in a strike on Beryslav, a small Ukrainian town on the north bank of the Dnieper river near the front line, the French Foreign Ministry said on Friday, adding that three other French nationals had been injured. Paris denounced an act of "barbarism" by Moscow. The anti-terrorist prosecutor's office opened an investigation on Friday evening.
