Asghar Jalalian, the deputy for human rights and international affairs of the Ministry of Justice of Iran, and Azam Nazir Tarar, the Minister of Law and Justice of Pakistan, agreed on the exchange of prisoners, Ednews informs, citing ISNA.
During the meeting with the Minister of Justice of Pakistan, Jalalian stated that currently, 60 Iranians are serving sentences in Pakistani prisons, and in this regard, we propose to create conditions for the release of prisoners from both sides,".
The deputy minister added that there are about 160 Pakistanis in the prisons of the Islamic Republic, and Tehran is ready to release them soon.
In particular, the Pakistani minister welcomed the proposal from the Iranian side. He stressed that Pakistan's Ministry of Interior will take steps to release Iranians who have committed light crimes.
