The head of the Central Intelligence Agency warned Thursday that Ukraine could lose the war to Russia by the end of this year unless the United States sends more military aid.
In this regard, Ednews reports with reference to Kyiv Post news. Bill Burns' dire warning comes as the US House of Representatives is scheduled to vote on Saturday on a $61 billion aid package to Ukraine that has been held up for months by Republican lawmakers allied with Donald Trump as he seeks re-election.
President Joe Biden's administration is lobbying for more ammunition and other supplies to Ukraine, warning that the pro-Western U.S. ally could lose ground to Russian occupation forces without more American aid. But in a speech at the George W. Bush Center on Thursday, Burns said those risks are higher now. "With both a practical and a psychological boost from military assistance, I think the Ukrainians will be able to sustain their forces fully until 2024," Burns said. "There is a very real risk that the Ukrainians will lose the battlefield by the end of 2024, or at least put Putin in a position where he can dictate the terms of the political settlement," he said, referring to the Russian president.
